Clinicians

Laura Brightwood, LCSW

Laura's years of experience span older children, adolescents, parents, families of all kinds, and adults who are seeking to find more balance, enjoyment, and happiness in their life. Common issues that inhibit the pursuit of happiness that can be explored in a clinical setting are those related to social and emotional learning, depression, anxiety, stress, and adjustment to a variety of life transitions. Life continually requires everyone to adapt, as change is a constant in life. Transitions are a constant part of life. Challenges such as growing up, letting your children grow up, dealing with limitations and disappointments, or the sadness that comes with having to let go of others either by death, divorce, or end of a relationship or friendship. Laura is LGBT affirming and has much experience exploring sexual orientation and gender issues with adolescents, adults, and parents raising children who are dealing with these issues. She has significant experience working with those who are experiencing a life limiting or life altering physical illness, and the families that support them. Life is constantly presenting people with situations they would rather avoid. By being willing to try new approaches to problems and through examining your beliefs about life -- and how these beliefs impacts what you expect from life -- there is always the possibility to pursue happiness again.
