Kathryn North, LPAKathryn "Kat" North (formerly Maxwell) received her BA from Hollins College. She earned a M.Ed. and an ED.S. in School Psychology from The Citadel in the College of Professional Studies in Charleston, South Carolina. Ms. North then worked as a School Psychologist for four years in both North and South Carolina. She specialized in working with preschool aged children, children with autism, and children with low incidence handicapping conditions.
While attending the School Psychology program at the University of South Carolina, Kat continued to work part-time as a School Psychologist, college instructor, supervisor, and evaluator for First Steps, a state wide early childhood intervention initiative. She completed a Ph.D. internship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the department of Psychiatry. Kat completed rotations in the department of Pediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care, and with the Heart/Lung Transplant team. She also interned with the Chapel Hill TEACCH Center and at Project Enlightenment with Wake County schools. She has presented at numerous community, state, and national conferences, and she has publications in the areas of assessment and project evaluation. She currently conducts research to develop appropriate social skills curriculum for children ages 4-6 and for children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder non MR.
Kat has been a therapist with 3-C Family Services for over four years. She works with young children, school aged children and adults in the areas of assessment, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, social skills, behavior disorders, and adjustment disorders. |
